Canned food drive at fair’s opening day

The Clark County Food Bank is soliciting canned food donations at the Clark County Fair’s opening day. The annual free Fred Meyer pancake breakfast is served from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at the entrance to the fairgrounds, 17402 N.E. Delfel Road. (Those who attend have to bring a Fred Meyer voucher.)

Donations to the food bank tend to decline in the summer, said James Fitzgerald, director of operations. Last year was the first year the Clark County Food Bank asked for donations at the fair’s opening day. They collected 2,000 pounds of food and hope to surpass that amount this year.
