Camas-Washougal — Port of Camas-Washougal Commissioner Mark Lampton has died of cancer, the Camas-Washougal Post-Record newspaper has reported. He was 69.

Lampton had a form of small cell cancer that started in his lungs and spread to his liver, according to the newspaper. He died Monday morning.

David Ripp, the port’s executive director, told the newspaper that Lampton was a “mentor. He was someone with a lot of experience in the business world, and I could definitely bounce ideas off of him. He will be dearly missed.”

Lampton was serving a second, four-year term on the port’s three-member board. The port was expected to discuss the appointment of a successor during its commission meeting Tuesday.

Lampton had worked as a real estate broker in Camas and as a sales representative for television stations.

Straub’s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of the arrangements, which are pending, according to the Post-Record.
