Newspaper’s error delays county meeting

The Columbian
Published: August 13, 2015, 5:00pm

A joint meeting of the Clark County councilors and the Clark County Planning Commission had to be rescheduled due to a technical problem at The Reflector, Clark County’s paper of record.

A public hearing originally scheduled to begin Sept. 1 will instead begin Sept. 3 and continue Sept. 10 to consider the environmental impacts of the Comprehensive Growth Management Plan update.

The Reflector, a weekly newspaper based in Battle Ground, had a production error immediately before its Aug. 12 edition was printed, according to a county news release. That delayed the publication of the legally required meeting notice, forcing the county to push the meeting back.

The Reflector replaced The Columbian, a daily, as the county’s paper of record in 2013. All legal notices of board meetings must be published 15 days in advance.

To read the environmental report online, visit www.clark.wa.gov/planning/2016update/alternatives.html. Those interested in commenting on the report are encouraged to attend one of the two meetings, both of which will begin at 6 p.m. in the sixth floor hearing room at the Public Service Center on 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver.

Written comments on the environmental report will be accepted until 4 p.m. Sept. 17. The county council is expected to adopt a preferred alternative in late October.
