District hosts school supply drive

The Washougal School District is hosting a school supply drive for children in need. Supplies can be brought to Washougal City Hall, 1701 “C” St., through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The following supplies and brands are needed: Backpacks, 12 count colored pencils, 16 and/or 24 pack of Crayola crayons, two-pocket folders, wired wide rule writing books, wired narrow rule writing books, Elmer’s glue sticks, Elmer’s glue mid-size bottles, pink erasers, rulers, No. 2 pencils, pencil boxes, composition books, children’s Fiskar scissors, facial tissue, Zip Loc bags, baby wipes, boys’ and girls’ underwear in sizes 4 to 12, and snacks such as graham crackers, goldfish crackers, Wheat Thins, Cheese Nips and trail mix.

CSD sets open house dates

The Camas School District has set open house and other back to school events.

o Camas High School: Monday, Aug. 24, Freshman Success Academy Orientation, 10:30 a.m. to noon; Wednesday, Aug. 26, junior and senior orientation drop in, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; MST Magnet orientation, 3 to 5 p.m. and a barbecue from 5:30 to 7 p.m.; Thursday, Aug. 27, sophomore orientation, 8 to 10:30 a.m., freshman orientation, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and barbecue, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

o Hayes Freedom High School: 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, all grades drop-in.

o Liberty Middle School: 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, sixth-grade and new student orientation; 2 to 3 p.m. seventh-grade orientation/pictures/pick up schedules/meet teachers/pay fees; 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., eighth-grade orientation/pictures/pick up schedules/meet teachers/pay fees; 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26, seventh/eighth grade student drop-in to pick up schedules and pay fees.

o Skyridge Middle School: 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, sixth-grade and new student orientation and drop in; 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26 and Thursday, Aug. 27, seventh- and eighth-grade student drop-in to pick up schedules and pay fees. The office will be closed from noon to 1 p.m. Parents can come in to pay school fees anytime between 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

o All elementary schools: 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, open house; 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., pre-Kindergarten and extended day open houses.

WSD sets open house dates

The Washougal School District has set open house and other back to school events.

o Cape Horn-Skye Elementary: Kindergarten back to school night, 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday Aug. 26. All other grades are scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.

o Gause Elementary School: Kindergarten visitation, Tuesday, Aug. 25, 9;30 to 11 a.m.; back to school night, 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.

o Hathaway Elementary School: 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, kindergarten orientation; school open house, 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.

o Canyon Creek Middle School: School open house, 4 to 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 27.

o Jemtegaard Middle School: School open house, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.

o Excelsior High School: School open house, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 27.

o Washougal High School: New student and ninth-grade orientation for parents and students, 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28. School open house, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10.

Mount Pleasant sets back-to-school night

Mount Pleasant School will host a back-to-school night for all grades on Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The school is located at 152 Marble Road.
