ASTORIA, Ore. — One of two inmates who authorities say tried to escape from Clatsop County Jail has been sentenced to more than eight years in prison.

The Daily Astorian reports that 25-year-old Anthony Craig Osborne, of Seaside, was sentenced Friday for the attempted escape in July and other charges. He pleaded no contest to identify theft, burglary and criminal mischief as part of a plea agreement.

The other inmate in the alleged escape attempt, 26-year-old Kevin Michael Burnham, was sentenced in September to more than six years in prison.

Authorities say both men tried to leave the prison by breaking a shower drain grate, tying it to a bedsheet and banging it against a window until the window shattered.

Officers heard the grate hitting the window and detained the inmates.
