What a difference a day makes for the La Center boys basketball team.

One day earlier, The Wildcats lost to Washougal in a showing that coach Jeremy Ecklund described as flat.

Thursday, La Center came out energized. The Wildcats sprinted to a 13-point lead after one quarter and cruised to a 58-42 non-league win over Fort Vancouver.

“Our shooters were shooting and our inside guys were working,” Ecklund said.

La Center (5-3) made three 3-pointers in the first quarter, which ended with the Wildcats up 18-5.

Four La Center players scored in the first quarter, which set the tone for a balanced scoring attack. Dalton Morgan had a team-high 13 points, Brody Seter added 11 and Matt Baher had 10.

“The defensive pressure that we had in half-court set us up to run a little bit,” Ecklund said. “They tried to trap us, which opened up our three-point shooters.”

Morgan also added seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. Seter added eight rebounds.

Miracle Alford scored 13 points and James Husband Jr. added 12 for Fort Vancouver (3-7).
