Boys basketball: Newberg (Ore.) 67, Skyview 59

Skyview’s shots fell in the first and third quarters, but not in the second and fourth as Newberg won the first round game at Barlow Trail Tournament in Gresham.

Skyview made 46 percent of its shots (8 of 21 on 3-pointers) to 58 percent for Newberg. The Tigers also scored 44 points in the paint.

Jason Chaney scored a season-high 18 points, and Mason Scheidel had a season-high 17 points to go with eight rebounds. Travis Yajko also had a season-high with 13 points.

Skyview (1-6) faces Hood River Valley at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the consolation bracket.
