King’s Way Christian rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit to beat Anacortes in overtime at the SunDome Shootout in Yakima.

“Anacortes jumped all over us early,” King’s Way coach Daven Harmeling said. “We were down 30-14 at halftime. We made a bunch of turnovers. But then showed a ton of resolve in the second half. We made the most spirited, tough comeback I can recall seeing as a player or a coach.”

Harmeling credited the play of Darion Lycksell and Preston Danberg off the bench.

“Those are two kids who rarely get minutes for us,” Harmeling said. “They’re both seniors, they never complain and they stay hungry in practice. They didn’t score a lot, but they were not yielding and did a lot of the tough work that allowed others to score the points.”

Kienan Walter led the Knights (7-4) with 27 points and Skyler Freeman had 10. Kyle Gonzales had two early baskets to spark King’s Way in the overtime period.
