Hudson’s Bay — The School of Piano Technology for The Blind received an $18,000 grant from the Schwab Charitable Foundation, and will use the money to help fund the removal and replacement of the school’s aging and leaking roof.

The roof has been resurfaced and patched numerous times, but still springs leaks. “Our best guess puts the current roof at 35 years or more,” Cheri Martin, executive director of the school, said in a release.

“The generous support from the Schwab Foundation provides us a huge step forward in raising the approximately $58,000 needed to completely remove and replace it.” In the meantime, the school received some assistance from Garon Roofing, which provided emergency repairs to ensure the school’s pianos stay dry through the winter.
