Weyerhaeuser posts higher quarterly, annual earnings

SEATTLE — Weyerhaeuser’s fourth-quarter earnings from continuing operations rose 31 percent compared to the same quarter a year ago, the company reported Friday.

Excluding special items, Weyerhaeuser earned $145 million, or 27 cents a share. That’s up from $111 million, or 19 cents a share from the same period a year earlier. Net sales from continuing operations rose 1 percent in the fourth quarter to $1.78 billion from $1.77 billion a year earlier.

Annual earnings from continuing operations rose 22 percent in 2014 compared to the previous year.

Excluding discontinued operations and special items, Weyerhaeuser earned $700 million, or $1.25 a share. This is up from $572 million, or 99 cents a share, for the full year 2013.
