The Puget Sound Blood Center has changed its name to Bloodworks Northwest.

The decision to change the name results from growth to serve hospital beyond the Puget Sound area and the expansion of laboratory services, patient support and blood research, according to a news release. Bloodworks Northwest serves nearly 90 hospitals in Washington, Oregon and Alaska, including both Vancouver hospitals.

Bloodworks Northwest has a donor center in Vancouver, 9320 N.E. Vancouver Mall Drive, Suite 100, under the Oregon and Southwest Washington Blood Program. The phone number for the local donor center is 360-567-4800.

The new website is www.bloodworksnw.org. Blood donation appointments can be made online or by calling 800-398-7888.
