Letter: Slow down acceptance of drones

The Columbian
Published:

Drones are becoming more and more common around the U.S. Almost one-third of our planes in the military are robot-controlled. Drones are used in warfare to spy or kill an enemy but now many civilians are using drones for agriculture and as hobbies. The FAA is going to allow more use of drones for commercial use. Amazon and Domino’s Pizza have tested using drones to deliver products. This could be good but also could have negative consequences. If everyone is using drones, there will be no privacy for the American people and air space could become an issue. I am all for using drones in other countries for military purposes and also in the U.S. The Border Patrol uses drones to locate drug traffickers.

My fear is that some of the dishonest people in government will abuse drones and push for drone strikes on U.S. soil. Food for thought.
