YAKIMA — A man was convicted of murder in the fatal shooting of his wife outside a Union Gap movie theater.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports the family of Cynthia Kelley-Munzanreder burst into applause Wednesday as the jury verdict was announced against John Munzanreder.

The 45-year-old Terrace Heights man faces a possible life term when he is sentenced in April.

Prosecutors say he was having an affair and hoped to collect on a $250,000 life insurance policy on his wife. She was shot in February 2013 in the parking lot of The Majestic Theater.

A man who worked with John Munzanreder at car dealership testified he offered him $20,000 to hide the gun. That man, 23-year-old Juan Ibanez-Cortez, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in a plea deal.
