Letter: Majority opposes proposal

The Columbian
Published: February 13, 2015, 12:00am

My thanks to The Columbian for giving us an online poll on the issue of displaying “In God We Trust” in the main public hearing room of thw Clark County Council. When I learned of this proposal by Clark County Councilor Tom Mielke, I was incensed, then dismayed.

As much as I object to this proposal, I would not be able to attend the session to voice my objections as I had several appointments already on that day. The Columbian’s online poll not only allowed me to vote “no,” but it also showed me that nearly 70 percent of respondents also voted “no.”

A Feb. 10 story reported “‘In God We Trust’ motion shelved,” so hopefully the county council will take heed and respect the diversity and privacy of personal religious beliefs and keep religion out of politics.
