SEATTLE — Washington residents who don’t have health insurance have until 10 p.m. Sunday to sign up before the end of open enrollment.
Those who sign up by Sunday night will be covered as of March 1 and avoid a penalty on their taxes when they file in early 2016.
Nearly 140,000 have already purchased insurance through Washington Healthplanfinder for this year. That’s slightly more than the number who enrolled last year. The Health Benefit Exchange was hoping to re-enroll most of their customers from last year, plus thousands more.
Officials at the exchange say those who have experienced technical problems during the enrollment period will be given more time to sing-up after the open enrollment period ends.
