Cover to Cover Bookstore, one of Clark County’s last independent bookstores, has closed its doors but will continue to sell books online, store owner Mel Sanders said Tuesday.

Sanders said she did not renew the lease for the store’s retail space at 6300 N.E. St. James Road due to declining traffic and sales, reflecting an industrywide trend for retail book sellers. The store first opened in Uptown Village in 2006 and moved to the St. James Road site in 2011. It closed over the weekend.

Cover to Cover will continue online sales at www.covertocoverbooks.net. The online site’s specialties are science fiction, military and metaphysics titles.
