CAMAS — The Camas girls basketball team scored 13 points in a row in the second quarter to take command Wednesday, then strolled into the Class 4A District 4 championship game.

Nikki Corbett scored 13 points, Brenna Khaw had eight assists, and the Papermakers beat Battle Ground 55-42 in a district semifinal.

Camas will face Skyivew for the district championship at 8 p.m. Thursday at Skyview. Battle Ground will take on Union in the consolation semifinals.

Camas and Skyview split the season series and tied for the 4A Greater St. Helens League title. Skyview won the tiebreaker game to earn home-court advantage in the playoffs.

Camas scored the first 10 points of Wednesday’s contest, but Battle Ground fought back to tie it at 12.

Then it was all Camas from there.

Corbett, Emma Jones, Teague Schroeder, and Khaw all scored in the 13-0 run. Camas led by 15 at the half. The Camas defense held Battle Ground to 11 percent shooting in the first half.

The advantage grew to 21 by the end of the third quarter and got as much as 26 early in the fourth quarter before Battle Ground found some offense.

Jossilyn Blackman led Battle Ground with 17 points. Kylie Smith added six points and also had six steals for the Tigers.

Jones finished with eight points for Camas. Courtney Clemmer and Schroeder each had seven. Corbett led Camas with nine rebounds. She also had four blocked shots.

Thursday’s championship game winner will advance to the Class 4A state tournament as the top seed from Southwest Washington. The loser of that game will have to play Friday in an elimination game to get the No. 2 seed from the region.
