Portland State beats Northern Colorado 91-75

PORTLAND — Gary Winston led five players in double figures with 19 points and Portland State ran away from Northern Colorado 91-75 on Saturday.

Winston was 5 of 8 beyond the arc and passed the 1,000 point mark for his career as Portland State (14-11, 8-7 Big Sky) shot 52.5 percent from the field and 50 percent (12 of 24) on 3-point attempts. DaShaun Wiggins had 17 points, Tiegbe Bamba and Sebastian Suarez 11 apiece and Collin Spickerman added 10.

Portland State made a nine-point run late in the first half, fueled by six consecutive free throws and a 3-pointer from Suarez, and led 40-35 at the break.

The Vikings ran the lead to 15 after an 11-2 run midway through the second half as Tim Douglas, Winston and Suarez all made 3-pointers.

Dominique Lee led Northern Colorado (12-14, 7-8) with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Tevin Svihovec had 14, Corey Spence 13 and Tim Huskisson added 12.
