Camas — The Camas-Washougal Aviation Association won the Spirit of Aviation award, given out by the Northwest Washington Aviation Association in conjunction with the Aircraft Owners and Pilot’s Association. The award is given to groups and people who display a passion for aviation. The award comes after a fire in October at the Grove Field Airport in Camas, where the group operates out of, destroyed 10 hangar bays and several recreational planes. Since the fire, the organization has formed new committees, held new events and continued to champion aviation. A press release sent out by the organization said the award “brings light in a dark time for CWAA.”
