PORTLAND — A disabled man who says his motorized wheelchair stalled in a fire has filed a lawsuit in Portland seeking $15 million from the wheelchair maker.

Roger Robinson’s lawsuit says he was burned over 39 percent of his body in 2013, when the joystick on his wheelchair malfunctioned and he was unable to escape a fire.

The Oregonian reports the lawsuit was filed last week by Portland lawyer Willard Merkel.

A spokeswoman for wheelchair maker Invacre, Lara Mahoney, declined to comment Tuesday because of the pending litigation.
