A planned lane shift on southbound Interstate 205 in Vancouver will move traffic about 6 feet to the west starting this week, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Crews will close up to two lanes of I-205 at 8 p.m. Tuesday to restripe the freeway. The work, which is weather dependent, is expected to be completed by 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to WSDOT.

The shift will move traffic onto a newly paved shoulder between Northeast 18th Street and Mill Plain Boulevard. It will remain in effect around the clock for about two months, according to WSDOT.

The work is part of a larger project to build a new interchange at I-205 and 18th Street.
