Battle Ground — Community members can rally behind Micah Hilario, diagnosed in 2010 with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis at age 33, at a Jan. 12 fundraiser in Battle Ground. The event was set up to help his family buy a used van with a wheelchair lift. Hilario, who resigned as assistant principal at the CAM Academy in October amid health issues, is the focus of an all-day event at Battle Ground’s Mill Creek Pub, 1710 S.W. Ninth Ave., where customers can ask to have a portion of their meal purchases go to his family. The fundraiser runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Micah and his wife, Amy, will be present from 4 to 7 p.m. The restaurant’s owner, Russell Brent, also pledged to match cash donations up to $250.
