Vancouver — Clark County councilors this week approved $45,000 in funding for a conservation project in the East Fork Lewis River watershed.

The contribution is part of a larger funding package that will allow Columbia Land Trust to acquire 51 acres along Rock Creek, a tributary to the East Fork Lewis River.

The land trust, based in Vancouver, will own and manage the property, which will still be available for low-impact recreation in some places, according to the county.

Funding for the project will also come from the Salmon Recovery Funding Board and other sources.
