Girls basketball: Centralia 57, Columbia River 51

The host Tigers made free throws down the stretch to hold off the Chieftains, who led with less than two minutes to play.

Columbia River (10-2) led 18-7 after the first quarter but could not shake Centralia. The Tigers were within seven points at halftime and River’s lead was one point at the end of three quarters.

Kate Kraft scored a career-high 20 points and also grabbed nine rebounds for the Chieftains. Holli Jo Chose finished with eight rebounds but left the game early in the second half with an undisclosed injury.

Centralia made 12 of 15 free throws in the fourth quarter, hitting all of its foul shots after taking the lead inside the final 90 seconds.
