Grants offered for some first-time home buyer

Clark County/ Woodland — Low-income first-time home buyers in Clark County and Woodland may be able to apply for down-payment grants of up to $58,000. Three grants are currently available via the Clark County Department of Community Services and nonprofit agency Proud Ground.

Various conditions and qualifications apply — chiefly that you be a first-time homebuyer and that your income is no higher than 80 percent of the area median. Take a look at www.proudground.org/buy/clark-county to review all the details. The other overall restriction is that you are living or buying in Clark County or Woodland — but not inside the city of Vancouver. Vancouver residents and homes do not qualify for the grants.

The first step toward applying for a grant is attending an information session. There are two coming up:

• 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 at Ridgefield Community Center, 210 N. Main Ave.

• 4 to 5 p.m. on Jan. 17 at Battle Ground Community Library, 1207 S.E. 8th Way, Battle Ground.
