I have been reading and hearing on the news about children getting hit by cars at this one intersection. I drove a school bus for nine years and, in the mornings and at sunset, it was hard to see people crossing, especially when it was raining.
Some people think that if they just step out in the road that the car will stop on a dime and that they will be seen; that’s not the case. Some people just don’t pay attention while driving. Pedestrians also need to pay attention. If you are wearing dark clothes at night in an unlit area, drivers can’t see you. Don’t expect drivers to stop; make sure they are going to stop. Walk defensively.
