Save the Date: Check out Territorial Days, Camas car show

From ax throwing to pole climbing, the Amboy Territorial Days Celebration revs up with its annual logging competition, featuring multiple timber sports from noon to 5 p.m. today. Before the competition, visitors can enjoy the carnival, stage entertainment, beer garden art fair and community parade at 10 a.m. Then, the three-day event wraps up Sunday with such events as the Mount Tum Tum Fun Run at 9 a.m. and the popular lawn-mower races at 1 p.m. Territorial Days is open from 9 a.m. to midnight today and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Amboy Territorial Park, 21400 N.E. 399th St., Amboy. Admission is free, with $5 for logging show and lawn-mower races, and $25 for fun run. www.tdays.org

You never know what kind of cars you’ll discover at the 10th annual Camas Classic Car Show. Attendees can view classic, custom cars, rod rods and trucks along the streets of downtown Camas, with live music and food available along. Northeast Fourth Avenue and Birch Street. Enjoy family-friendly movies at dusk during the Battle Ground Movies in the Park series. Attendees are encouraged to blankets, pillows and low back chairs. “Big Hero 6,” rated PG, will be the first movie, starting at 7 p.m. July 17. The Vancouver Firefighter’s Union hosts Fire In The Park, a community event featuring fire apparatus displays, a kid’s fire-safety zone including a combat challenge, workshops and teddy bear clinic, along with presentations from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 18 in Esther Short Park, 301 W. Rural Heritage Fair
, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 18 and 19. The fair highlights agriculture, logging, industry and life in Clark County at the turn of the 20th century. Includes blacksmithing, steam engines, vintage tractors, fire engines and gas-powered machines, as well as kids games and train rides. Original Practice Shakespeare Festival returns to Esther Short Park to bring the “The Merry Wives of Windsor” to life. The comedy following Sir John Falstaff, a fat, broke and cowardly knight, who decides to court two wealthy and married women. The company uses the same techniques used during the Bard’s time, limited rehearsal, an on-stage prompter, audience interaction and fast paced acting. The production begins at 2 p.m. July 19 in Esther Short Park, West Eighth and Columbia streets, Vancouver. Admission is free. www.opsfest.org

The beloved Camas concert series celebrates its 20th year. The annual Summer Concerts in Crown Park, Northeast Everett and 17th Avenue, Camas will begin with children’s entertainer Trash Can Joe from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 22. Try to arrive early, to take part in the pre-concert activity at 5:45 p.m., children can learn to make their own kazoos to join with the band. The 41st annual Camas Days celebration returns July 24-26, with six blocks of food booths and handmade crafts, a Kids Street full of youth activities, and the Toast of Camas: wine and microbrew street with live music along Northeast Fourth and Dallas streets, Camas. The kids parade begins at 12:15 p.m. July 24, the Grand Parade begins at 11 a.m. July 25, followed by the bath tub races at 1 p.m. The Duck Derby takes place July 26 on the Washougal River. Also taking place is the Lacamas Lake Half Marathon and 5K on July 26. This half-marathon course begins in downtown Camas, before making a full loop around Lacamas Lake before finishing in front of the Liberty Theater.
