EVERETT — A Granite Falls woman who embezzled $330,000 from the YMCA was sentenced to 16 months in prison.

The Daily Herald of Everett reports that Stephanie Koppisch was abusing prescription medications when she stole the money. She was sentenced on Tuesday.

She once managed the YMCA’s south Everett apartments for woman and children.

Court records show that from 2007 to 2011, she pocketed rent money that she collected from low-income tenants.

A Snohomish County prosecutor says Koppisch preyed on victims who were vulnerable and asked for an 18-month sentence.

But Koppisch’s lawyer said she has taken steps to make sure this doesn’t happen again. She’s receiving mental health treatment and has quit using drugs.

Officials say they are improving internal controls and employee training to prevent fraud.
