Letter: Share the benefits with decent pay

I was very interested in the reporting in the July 5 issue on public pay, but saw in it something I did not see talked about. Certainly it appears that public workers are better off as a group. In contrast to the problem we have of extreme income disparities in our country, government workers live in a work world where disparities are more reasonable and enable all workers a decent living. I wouldn’t change a thing about that. Instead of taking away benefits to lower pay packages, how about encouraging decent pay and benefits for all, public and private?
