KENNEWICK — A church group distributing Bibles interrupted an apparent suicide attempt Saturday at an apartment in Kennewick.

Kennewick police Cpl. Matt Newton said the group knocked, and a man came to the door covered in blood. They ran downstairs and called police.

Officers surrounded the apartment and yelled at the man to come out the front door. Instead, he came out on a balcony and said something police couldn’t understand before going back inside.

A SWAT team was called, but the man eventually came out of the apartment and was taken to a hospital.
