Vancouver — Ongoing construction work will completely close a segment of Northeast 18th Street for nearly a week starting Aug. 15, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Crews will close 18th Street between Northeast 107th and 112th avenues — the segment where 18th Street crosses Interstate 205. The closure will allow workers to build a new roundabout, excavate the existing roadway and do other work, according to WSDOT. The closure is scheduled to last from 6 a.m. Aug. 15, to 5 p.m. Aug. 21.

Local access east of I-205 still will be permitted to Sir James Apartments and the Loyal Order of Moose lodge, according to WSDOT.

The work is part of a project that will build a new interchange connecting I-205 and 18th Street. The $40.6 million project is scheduled to wrap up next year.
