Letter: LaBrant gains support

How very little pro-oil terminal testimony we hear at the Port of Vancouver commission meetings. And, most positive testimony is from Tesoro-Savage itself.

Last year, Tesoro-Savage rebranded itself, emerging as Vancouver Energy, hoping perhaps that an uninformed public forgets the oil terminal and thinks VE is a new energy facility. Thanks to Columbian reporter Aaron Corvin’s ongoing diligence and that of various groups, we are an informed public and we are watching.

We also watch the port’s CEO Todd Coleman. Is he the person really calling the shots? I understand that commissioners listen to Coleman. Just compare staffs and salaries.

This fall, we vote for someone who will better represent our interests as port commissioner. Eric LaBrant has faithfully appeared at meetings, clearly and rationally alerting us to the many negatives of having an oil terminal. LaBrant gets my support.
