WASHINGTON — Relatives of four Americans held in Iran are calling on the Obama administration to do more to press for their release during negotiations with Tehran on a nuclear deal.
Lawmakers from both parties said that if Tehran doesn’t release them immediately, they would be skeptical of trusting the Iranian government to honor terms of any deal negotiators are rushing to complete this month.
Daniel Levinson, son of former FBI agent Robert Levinson who has been gone for more than 3,000 days, implored negotiators to take a more aggressive approach than merely asking for Iran’s help in locating his father.
Also testifying were relatives of Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian, pastor Saeed Abedini and former U.S. Marine Amir Hekmati.
