Recent letters insinuate that secular liberalism (or humanism) should be our country’s de facto moral authority.
James Burnham’s 1964 book “Suicide of the West” maintains that the decline of Western society and government lie in an erosion of intellectual, moral, and spiritual factors which are the mainstay of liberal psychology. Proclaiming itself as both anti-tradition and anti-religious, secular liberalism judges age-old ideas, customs, and institutions as unworthy of respect.
I think it is fair to say that people pushing us down the road of secular liberalism may not always understand what lies at the end. You only have to watch the evening news to sense the dysfunction invading our great country. While secular liberalism may have good intentions it is disastrous in practical application. Look no further than the history books to see what’s in store for us.
