BOSTON (AP) — A law enforcement official says a man who lunged at police with a knife outside a Boston pharmacy and was shot and killed had been making threats against law enforcement.
Police say Usaama Rahim had known extremist views and was under 24-hour surveillance by terrorism investigators. They say members of a task force tried to question him, but he went at them with a knife and wouldn’t drop it so they shot him twice.
Rahim’s brother disputes that account. He says Rahim was killed while waiting at a bus stop to go to his job. He says three police officers confronted Rahim, who was shot in the back three times.
