Letter: Desist governing at a county level

The Columbian
Published: June 8, 2015, 12:00am

To stop all the bickering regarding the Clark County council, I have a suggestion. Why not eliminate the county? I believe we could do very well as a city only. We are referred to as Vancouver, Washington. We are not Vancouver, Clark County, Washington.

Kick the county and its offices out of Vancouver, annex all of the land south of 119th Street, our boundaries would be 119th Street on the north to 192nd Avenue on the east, the Columbia River would be our boundary on the south, and on the west, also the Columbia River. Simple?

Yes, the tax problem would be another story, but I do have an answer for that.
