Outdoor marijuana farm coming to Central Washington

The state has approved a new outdoor marijuana farm in Moxee on property that could eventually be home to more than a dozen pot growers.

On June 1, regulators gave the go-ahead to Ag Development Group’s application for a Tier 2 grow at 8531 Postma Road, thereby allowing the operation to plant a marijuana field of between 2,000 and 10,000 square feet.

In total, 10 businesses have filed to open marijuana grows at the nearly 10-acre parcel, which is owned by Seattle Farming Properties, according to records from the Yakima County Assessor’s Office.

Last week, a Seattle Farming Properties spokesman told KIMA-TV that the parcel, which is still being developed, will have 14 plots.

Having multiple growers on the same property could conflict with state law because each business must have its own fencing, entrances and security systems separate from the others, state Liquor Control Board spokesman Mikhail Carpenter said.

“Not that it couldn’t be done, but it would probably be pretty difficult,” he said.
