Letter: Chance to fly fuels life-long memory

Those involved in Open Cockpit Day at Pearson Field are to be commended and thanked for their efforts. A May 29 story reported “Chance for kids to soar: Pearson Field event allows youngsters to fly with experienced pilots.”

Their dedication and enthusiasm was certainly evident and in the right spirit of volunteerism. Pilots freely gave of their time, plus use of their planes and fuel. This allowed kids to experience a positive and unique opportunity. Several of our grandchildren participated in actually flying an airplane. I know they will cherish the memories and are already looking forward to next year’s event. Thanks to all who participated in this worthwhile event.
