CHENEY — A wildfire burning south of Spokane is now 50 percent contained.
The Fish Lake fire started Wednesday afternoon near Cheney and sent up a smoke column visible from downtown Spokane in eastern Washington.
Brian Schaeffer with the Spokane Fire Department told KHQ-TV that the 145-acre fire was brought under control by crews on the ground and in the air.
No road closures were expected Thursday. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
