Blake exercises option to stay with Blazers

Portland Trail Blazers reserve point guard Steve Blake will be back in the Northwest for at least one more NBA season.

Neil Olshey, the team’s president of basketball operations, announced that Blake has exercised his player option for the 2015-16 in a release late Friday.

Blake — a veteran of 12 NBA seasons — played 81 games for the Blazers, averaging 19 minutes a contest off the bench during 2014-15. He shot 35 percent from long range.

Blake was signed last summer by the Blazers using their bi-annual exception.

Blake is in his third tour of duty with the Blazers (05-06, 2007-2010, 2014-present). He is the only player in franchise history to play for the Blazers three separate times.

Guard Arron Afflalo also has a player option but has not yet made an official decision on the matter.
