Letter: Charity a beautiful scam

The Columbian
Published: June 22, 2015, 12:00am

It is amazing how blatant corruption is blindly ignored by The Columbian editors. Endless whining about local politicians and scant attention paid to the Clinton “Charitable” Foundation.

Let’s see, if you donate to a politician or political party, you have to report your name and employer and you are limited to $2,000 per year and it is clearly not tax deductible and highly illegal for foreign governments to donate to political campaigns. However, if you give to a “charity” there is no limit and you don’t have to report the name of your employer.

Of course, if you want a tax deduction, you will report your name. For all others, including foreign governments and corporations, donate all you want, as there’s no accountability.

If you, a corporation or government want to donate to disaster relief, would you donate to an actual legitimate charity, like the Red Cross, or would you donate to a dubious charity, named “Clinton Foundation,” which could have huge expenses with little given to charity? Clearly, donating to this foundation is a political donation, tax-deductible for domestic donors and influence buying for all others.

What a beautiful scam.
