YWCA Clark County to reopen on Fridays

Beginning July 1, the YWCA Clark County’s office on Main Street in Vancouver will be open five days a week. Fridays are being restored to the schedule.

The new hours of operation at the YWCA Clark County, 3609 Main Street, will be 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

The Great Recession and a decrease in agency revenues were the reasons the Y’s board of directors decided to close its building to the public on Fridays in 2011. The 24-hour hotline, support groups and scheduled appointments continued, but public walk-in hours on Fridays were eliminated.

Now they’re back, thanks to a reviving economy and financial support from the community, according to a statement from the YWCA.

Founded in 1916, the YWCA Clark County’s mission is to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Learn more at http://www.ywcaclarkcounty.org, or call 360-696-0167.
