ALBANY, Ore. — Authorities in Linn County say an Albany man has been accused of kidnapping, raping and trying to kill a woman he kept against her will for about a week.

An affidavit says the woman slipped away from him on Monday and ran to a neighbor’s house saying, “He’s going to kill me.”

The Albany Democrat-Herald reports 37-year-old Craig Alexander Lazon was booked on charges including attempted aggravated murder, kidnapping, rape and assault.

Court documents say he had previously been convicted of assaulting the woman.

Linn County District Attorney Doug Marteeny said at a hearing Wednesday the woman had been tied since Feb. 24 and was repeatedly assaulted.

Tim Felling, the lawyer appointed for Lazon, was reported in court Thursday when The Associated Press called for comment.
