The Washington State University Clark County Extension is accepting applications for master food preservers.

The WSU Clark County Master Food Preservers is a group of trained and certified people who volunteer providing information about how to safely preserve foods. Master food preservers must attend a seven-week intensive training program.

Classes and training include an in-depth study of food safety and specific procedures in food handling, preparation and preservation along with hands-on canning experiences.

Orientation sessions are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 17 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 23 at the 78th Street Heritage Farm, 1919 N.E. 78th St.

The seven-week training will be 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays from April 17 to June 5. The course fee is $225, which covers the cost of notebooks, handouts, books and supplies.
