LEAVENWORTH — The Chelan County Sheriff says rescuers have recovered the body of a 28-year-old shoplifting suspect who jumped into the Wenatchee River in December to escape from deputies.

The sheriff said Thursday that the Chelan County Coroner used dental records to identify Alan Bolic.

His body was recovered last week about 30 feet from shore near a boat launch near Leavenworth.

Bolic was suspected of taking two liquor bottles from a Leavenworth grocery store on Dec. 12. He jumped into the Wenatchee River to get away from deputies. Searchers were unable to find him, and he was presumed to have drowned.
