Letter: Don’t chastise inexperience

The Columbian
Published: March 13, 2015, 12:00am

Since the invention of the automobile, 16-year-olds have been piloting them with various degrees of mastery. Now in 2015, Rep. Liz Pike, R-Camas, wants only the 16- and 17-year-olds in Clark County to state their inexperience with a decal on their car. If it is truly the lifesaving legislation she says it is, why not protect our neighbors’ children in Cowlitz County or our friends in King County? Are their lives worth less?

Also this sticker will be a field day for nefarious opportunists who will prey on their inexperience in various frauds and crimes.

This may be the perfect time for Clark County parents to talk about civil disobedience with their children, and just say “no” to “Nanny Olympia.”
