Prep roundup: Skyview boys, Camas girls win at Tiger Invite

The Skyview boys and Camas girls captured the team titles Saturday at the Tiger Invitational track and field meet in Battle Ground.

The Storm boys outpaced Camas 105-94.5 to take the team title. Union (86.5) was third.

Peyton Fredrickson paced Skyview by winning the high jump with an impressive mark of 6 feet, 8 inches. Mason Scheidel (1,600, 4:36.65) and Kaden Harbertson (3,200, 9:32.71) also won for the Storm.

Ryan Gunther of Camas won the 110 hurdles (14.73 seconds) and 300 hurdles (40.10), and the Papermakers swept the 400, 1,600 and distance medley relays.

Union’s Bailey King won two events — the shot put (54-5) and discus (169-3) — as did Evergreen’s Kobey Eaton — the 100 (11.31) and 200 (22.75).

Other boys winners included Thomas Harshaw of Hockinson (400, 50.43), Keaton Spiller of Heritage (800, 1:57.77), Quentin Sills of Hockinson (javeline, 173-10), Jacob Ringold of Columbia River (long jump 22-1½) and Eli Whitmire of Woodland (43-1¾).

The Camas girls easily outpaced Union 139-117 to win. Skyview (98) was third.

Camas’ Jordan Davis was the lone multi-winner of the day, winning the 100 hurdles (14.86) and 300 hurdles (45.79). Alissa Pudlitzke led a Camas sweep in the 1,600 (5:10.43), Caleigh Lofstead won the pole vault (12-3), and Kaylee Merrritt won the 3,200 (11:43.34) for the Papermakers. Camas also won the distance medley relay.

Union swept the sprints with Makayla Woods in the 100 (12.74), Dai’lyn Merriweather in the 200 (26.06) and Jai’lyn Merriweather in the 400 (56.06).

That trio, along with Alexis Fuller, led the Titans to a win in the 1,600 relay (4:02.94). That trio, along with Shelby Bafus, led Union to a win in the 400 relay (50.07).

Other winners on Saturday included Molly Beaman of Skyview (800, 2:19.32), Julia Stepper of Woodland (long jump, 16-2¼), Nicole Carson of Union (triple jump, 32-11) and Madison Lord of Skyview (high jump, 5-3).

Stars of the day

• Colton Arends, La Center boys soccer, scored three goals in a 4-2 win over Toledo.

• Katie Schroeder, Camas softball, struck out 10 batters and also knocked in a run in the Papermakers’ 6-4 win at Richland.

• Ryan McAbel, Skyview baseball, pitched three innings of one-hit relief to help Skyview beat Kelso 4-1 in a non-league game.

• Hunter Raney, Woodland baseball, went 2 for 2 with a double, home runs and two RBI in Woodland’s 13-4 win over La Center.

• Mo Spieth, Union softball, went 4 for 5 with two doubles, home run, three runs and five RBI as the Titans beat Sandy (Ore.) 16-11 in the first game of a doubleheader.

• Mark Gomez, Woodland soccer, scored the game’s only goal as Woodland beat Fort Vancouver 1-0 for its second straight win one day after snapping a 22-match losing streak.
