RENTON — The Washington State Patrol says a 35-year-old Maple Valley man has died after his car collided with a King County Metro bus early Tuesday.

Trooper Chris Webb says the man was driving northbound on State Route 169 between Maple Valley and Renton when he veered left and collided with a bus heading in the opposite direction.

Webb says the bus was not carrying passengers at the time of the crash at about 4 a.m. The bus driver had minor injuries.

The collision tied up traffic for hours during the busy morning commute.
