LAS VEGAS — One person was wounded in an after-midnight shooting that marred a busy night of Las Vegas Strip events surrounding the Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao boxing match, police said Sunday.
The injuries to the victim hospitalized following the 12:30 a.m. shooting near the Tropicana resort weren’t believed to be life-threatening, Las Vegas police Officer Laura Meltzer said.
An assailant wasn’t identified, and no arrest was immediately made, she said.
A police and public safety communications hub closed at 5 a.m. Sunday with no reports of unrest or major criminal incidents overnight at casinos, clubs and venues, Meltzer said. A tally of arrests wasn’t immediately available.
“It looks like people had a good time and behaved themselves,” she said.
Las Vegas was packed during the weekend with thousands of revelers for the Mayweather-Pacquiao bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Mayweather defeated Pacquiao in a 12-round unanimous decision.
