Mendoza, Glovatsky win at NWAC Southern regional meet

Heritage High grad Guadalupe Mendoza of Clark College won the discus, and Hockinson grad Georgia (Porter) Glovatsky of Mt. Hood won the 5,000 meters at the NWAC Southern Regional meet in Gresham, Ore., on Saturday.

Mendoza’s winning throw was 37.77 meters.

Glovatsky posted a time of 18 minutes, 46.71 seconds to win by almost a minute over second place.

Also for Clark, Hertiage grad James Breen place third in the 1,500 (3:59.85). He was also on the Clark third-place 1,600 relay with Jeremiah Arn (La Center grad), Doug Paresa (Prairie grad), and Thomas Normandeau (Washougal).

Mountain View grad Ryan Tonder was third in the hammer throw at 43.83 meters, and Brandon Ziegler was third in the high jump at 5-9.
